31-ish Horror Films of Oct: THE TERROR (1963)

If you watched this and guessed it was shot in 4 days, you’d be right! Boris Karloff plays a deranged Baron. Jack Nicholson plays a maniac French soldier.

There’s also an evil old lady who made a pact with the Devil and a castle servant (played by Bronx-native Dick Miller).

Watch this if you must… no one is making you.

31-ish Horror Films of Oct: THE WOMAN IN BLACK (2012)

Daniel Radcliffe plays a lawyer from London at the turn of the century. And also a widower with a son. He travels by train to the countryside and then things get scary.

I thought, by the end, the main protagonists had stumbled on a clever solution that would satisfy the creepy Woman in Black. I was wrong.

P.S. There’s a bog and some creepy dolls in this film (available on Amazon Prime Video).

31-ish Horror Films of Oct: THE SHIVER OF THE VAMPIRES (1971)

This French film has something for you Rocky Horror Picture Show fans out there. It’s less campy and musical but more rock and roll and erotic.

Put the kids to bed before you “Turn This On”! Get it???
I think “shiver” might be a euphemism for something.

31-ish Horror Films of Oct: THE SECOND BEST SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE EVER MADE

You can’t make another Citizen Kane. It’s impossible, so why try?
Instead… make THE SECOND BEST SCIENCE FICTION MOVIE EVER MADE because why the hell not?!

Is the title of this a reference to 2001? To Close Encounters of the Third Kind? Is the “best” sci-fi movie The Day the Earth Stood Still? Well, the filmmakers never tell us and we’ll probably never know what they’re talking about. All I can say is that we should be happy they gave us what they did.

Though slightly long, I’d go so far to say that this film is a DIY masterpiece. You “could” mock this film, but YOU couldn’t make this even if you tried.

WOW! What a bizarre film. This must be experienced to be believed. College filmmaking courses should include this film as “Recommended Viewing”. I’m being honest.

This Japanese anthology of short “found footage” horror vignettes is only 55 min long so you have no excuse not to even try to watch these (unless you don’t have Amazon Prime).

The three shorts touch on subjects of #demons #trespassing #murder #suicide #mutilation and um… general creepiness.

31-ish Horror Films of Oct: BLADE RUNNER 2049

Here’s spoilerISH review since I probably really need to see it a second time in order to remember spoilers.

Ryan Gosling has never bothered me so that’s not an issue. And forgot to mention that the best performance of the film is from the actress who played Luv.

31-ish Horror Films of Oct: PARASITES (2016)

We meet 3 freshman USC football players and then quickly follow just one of them as he runs from a band of vengeful, territorial homeless people.

This film comes with a message.

31-ish Horror Films of Oct: VAMPS (2017)

VAMPS on Amazon Prime is called GHOULS on imdb.com.

This is a Russian film. It’s shot well.
There is a priest in it that collects silver coins because the silver will help destroy evil one day.

OH! And there’s an eclipse in the movie. I should have said that in the video. LIKE, SHARE & SUBSCRIBE!
